      Here's another book by the very famous children's author Eric Carle. This time it is a counting book!!! Again, his colorful illustration catches the child's imagination using his unique drawing skills.

     

     There are many books out there that teaches kids about counting but this one takes the bait of not just simply counting random stuff but counting animals that can be seen in a zoo! Children will easily be attracted to this book as it includes animals and what captures a child's attention but animals right? Especially animals that are not common in our household. 

 

     It is also very relatable especially to kids who have visited a zoo. After reading, pupils will start to chatter about the other animals they have seen in a zoo and the teachers can asks them questions like, "Wow! You saw some tigers too! How many tigers did you see?" "How about a turtle? Did you see a turtle and how many are there?" "How many of you saw a gorrilla? Is there a small gorilla? How many are small? How many are big?" and so on and so forth.

 

    I hope you guys can purchase this book but If you can't there are other counting books out there as well in your local bookstore. Remember, when buying a book for your children or pupils be sure they are colorful, interesting, and relatable.

Story: Ang Prinsipeng Ayaw Maligo

     Okay, this is the first time which I will feature a local book (Made in the Philippines). This is one of the many Aklat Batibot's series of children's tale. It is written in Tagalog but  you can translate this in English or whatever language you know in order for your kids to understand.



      Anyway, moving on from the facts you can actually tell where the story is going base from the title itself. It has the common theme of a kid (a prince) who doesn't really want to take a bath. He makes up some excuses just to avoid it! But wait there's more! What will happen to him if his body keeps accumulating too much dirt and exudes unimaginable odor? You have to find out by buying this book! LOL!

     I guess, one way or another we can relate to this somehow. There will be some instances wherein we know a kid (or maybe our own children, one of our siblings, our neighbor's kid) who is not really into washing and cleaning his or her body. This book is very helpful in explaining to the children in the most amusing and adventurous manner on the importance of taking a bath (or shower to some!)

    Teachers can include this in their Health Subjects (e.g. Personal Hygiene) which can branch to not just cleaning your body but taking care of your teeth, nails and more!

Story: The Very Hungry Caterpillar

        The very hungry caterpillar was written by the renowned children’s book author Mr. Eric Carle. Not only did he write the book but he is the one who illustrated and designed it as well.

       The story is about a caterpillar that after coming out of its egg started to feel hungry. So he began to look for some food to satisfy his taste buds. I wonder what kind of food it will eat? (I won’t tell the story here though, you have to go and find out by yourself!)


      The colorful and unique style of Eric Carle's drawing will definitely capture one's attention. It's not just the story itself but there are many things especially a teacher (and parents too!) who can connect it to subjects such as Science (Life Cycle of a Butterfly), Health (Junk Foods) and even the 7 Days of the Week.

         I recommend this book to everybody even if it’s a bit pricey here in our country. Still, it is a good investment. Then again just in case you don’t have the money to buy such book, Just go on to You Tubemand search for the story but I always say there is nothing like holding a good and real book!

Story: Guess How Much I Love You

       This is a story about Little Nutbrown Hare showing how much he loves his dad namely Big Nutbrown Hare in the most amusing manner you can think of.

       The value of showing your love to your parents in this story is really cuddly and funny. I am sure sometime when we were still children, in our minds we somehow try to measure how much we love our parents or those who are dear to us. Though in reality love cannot be measured at all.

     Need a bedtime story for your little kids? Goodnight Moon is one of the most beloved story for a parent to tell their children before they go to sleep. The story is quite simple. It tells of a litte rabbit saying goodnight to all the things that he sees in the bedroom like the light, the chairs, the bears and even the cow jumping over the moon. In addition, the words are woven into rhymes to capture the kids attention.

    I think most of you can relate to this especially the parents. You tell your cute kids to say goodnight not just to the family members but all the things that the child can think of...maybe his favorite teddy bear? a chugging choo-choo train? a prettly little doll? or maybe his favorite picture book!

   

 

       "Goodnight room...Goodnight moon..."

        Welcome to Skool Rockz's Book Nook Section. I have to revamped some of the entries on the homepage so that it will look appealing to the readers...if ever there is one!!! LOL!

     This section will mostly focus on books...children's books that is as you can already tell from the title. I believe books are essential not only to acquire knowledge but to incorporate creativity and imagination. That is why I made this blog for all of you who are interested on the kind of books that you want  your kids or pupils to read.
