         See, Oh, See! First Primer is a good book to introduce a simple story using Dolch Basic Sight Words. For those who does not know Dolch Basic Sight Words  is a list of frequently used English words compiled by Edward William Dolch, a major proponent of the "whole-word" method of beginning reading instruction. The list was prepared in 1936 and was originally published in his book Problems in Reading in 1948, (Thank you Wiki! LOL!)

       The words are divided into different levels and they are Pre-Primer, Primer, Grade 1, Grade 2 and so on and so forth. This book basically introduces pre-primer/primer words but not all of them.

    

      

 

 

          Common words such see, run, walk, help, play can be seen in the book. The sentences used are not overwhelming because it is catered to kids between 4-5 years old. The dolch words are used over and over again for the child to remmber. (ie. "See Nita run. See Nita run baby. See Nita run, Father!)

          

          The  pictures are in black and white. It may be boring to adults but this book can also be use as a coloring book for the kids! Double purpose eh!?

          I recommend this book not just to teachers but to parents as well. It  is a stepping stone in reading stories. It is available at your local bookstore so check it out if you have time.
